“In March of 2016, I attended an 8 hour church security conference hosted by MNPD at the west precinct and was taught by a company called Training Force. I walked away with a host of emotions. Not only could I not believe what I was hearing, suddenly I felt like our church was a sitting duck. We had absolutely no type of security in place and on top of that, we only had one member of the law enforcement community and he was rarely there. I knew we had to do something but I had no idea where to start. I got approval through my church to begin the process of building a team and my first and only thought was Bob Allen at Royal Range USA. Bob’s 34 years in Law Enforcement, 25 of those years spent at the training academy made him the logical choice.
Bob and his staff came on-site and gave a complete assessment of our property, showing the strong and weak points of the facility. He also was able to take 10 members, male AND female and train us on how to confidently handle most any situation that could arise. Today, the comfort level of our congregation has increased tremendously knowing that we have a trained staff in place and are keeping a watchful eye on things during church activities.
Bob comes back periodically to do refresher courses where we work on specific scenarios and run drills to prove effectiveness of the training. Got our Handgun Permit qualifications, became members and shoot there weekly. Having now been through 5 of the 8 pistol courses they teach I can’t say enough good things about the staff. I would have already completed all 8 without the stay at home order we’ve all been dealing with. Instructors are bringing combat proven, recent and relevant training to all of us wanting to be informed and effective Self Defenders. In fact I’ve decided to go through the entire pistol curriculum every year, and I’m going to repeat all of them again soon with a red dot to get accustomed to shooting pistol with an RMR.
