Firearms Instructor/Range Safety Officer
Metts began his career in public service with the Bolivar County (MS) Fire Department and worked his way through the ranks to Battalion One District Chief, Arson Investigator, and Deputy Sheriff.
Metts left public service and moved to Nashville, Tennessee to become a Special Agent with INS Investigations Bureau, Inc. His career spanned 35 years. He specialized in fire and explosions of residential/commercial property, vehicles, etc. His last position was Vice President of Fire Sciences, with 178 professional fire investigators across the United States under his direction. He has conducted over 4,000 fire investigations and testified as an expert witness in more than three dozen civil and criminal trials in state and federal courts.
After retirement Metts began working at Royal Range USA as a Range Safety Officer and Firearms Instructor Defensive Pistol, Urban Rifle, Carjacking Defense, Active Shooter, Speed and Precision, and the Law Enforcement Firearm’s Instructors Course, and currently provides individual instruction to new and experienced shooters. He is a member of the National Rifle Association, International Defensive Pistol Association, United States Practical Shooting Association and regularly competes in defensive pistol shooting matches.
